IN-SEASON PRODUCE FOR AUGUST

The month of August is right around the corner, so get your list ready! This month, in addition to highlighting the in-season produce we will also highlight the water and a few beneficial contents in

some of the fruits on the list. Produce with higher water contents are known to be lower in calories and with many people being home due to COVID-19, most of us want simple snacks we can grab that do not add tremendous calories yet still align with our weight-loss goals. There is no better snack than some fresh fruit!

It is always important to know where your food is coming from and to try and purchase local produce. Try checking out local farmers markets, farms or partnerships in grocery stores that support local farming. Having your in-season grocery store list allows you time to focus on food that is full of nutrition and contain little to no food miles, which is the journey your food takes from producer to consumer. Do not forget to always wash your fruits even if it means carrying water with you! Your safety matters more than ever for you and your family. Always wear your mask, wash your hands, and social distance; if you have younger kids, remind them of the rules to understand the seriousness of these protocols.
